NEWTON COUNTY, Ind.– A Newton County Sheriff’s deputy is seriously hurt after being shot in a shootout with an Illinois suspect who was fleeing police from his home state into Indiana Sunday night. Illinois State Police have identified the suspect as 37-year-old Andrew Roselius of Clifton, Illinois. Police say they were chasing him and they believed he was holding someone hostage. No other people were found in Roselius’ vehicle after the chase. The suspect was killed in the shooting with police.
