Barbara Graves, a steadfast presence filled with love and adventure, passed away in Vincennes, IN, on August 14, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on May 23, 1952, to the late James and Helen “Pelaski” Brouillette, in the same close-knit community, she lived a life characterized by her warm, friendly spirit and an indomitable sense of adventure that showed in everything she did.
Her life was filled with the joy of family. She is survived by her devoted children, Laura Arial and Jason Graves (Amber), her treasured grandchildren, Rebecca, Allison, Connor, Derrick, Jewel, and Owen, as well as her caring siblings, Catherine Myers (Ron) and Thomas Brouillette. Barbara’s legacy of love continues through the tight-knit bond she fostered within her family, who were her pride and joy.
Barbara was a proud graduate of St. Rose Academy class of 1970, after which she built a career full of friendships at Home Depot and was an avid traveler. When given the choice to live anywhere, she chose Arizona so she could golf all year round and enjoyed the sun-soaked landscape for over three decades. Barbara’s adventures took her on to live in Italy and Germany for two and half years each, experiences she loved and that infused her life with a rich sense of culture and history.
Her adventurous spirit was further evidenced by her love for the great outdoors where she embraced the joy of horseback riding, fishing, and kayaking. Those who knew Barbara best would describe her as loving, adventurous, and unfailingly friendly—a woman whose enthusiasm for life touched many hearts.
Barbara Graves will be remembered as a woman whose presence was a gift to the world. Her spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved her and the countless lives she impacted with her kindness and adventurous soul.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service, a celebration of life will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice.
