We celebrate the life and legacy of Sharon S. Ellerman, who passed away peacefully at her home in Vincennes, IN on August 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 14, 1942, in Vincennes, IN she is the daughter of Karl and Ardith (Noble) Reimers. Sharon worked as bookkeeper at Niehaus Lumber. After marrying her husband Larry on July 8, 1962 she farmed alongside him until they retired.
She was a 1960 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and played flute in the band. Sharon was deeply rooted in her faith as a devoted member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she served as Treasurer, Deacon, Funeral Dinner Chairman and in many other capacities.
Sharon enjoyed bowling, actively participating in a league for forty-five years. She was also a member of the Lower Johnson Ext Homemakers Club-Serving as president and treasurer. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, and playing cards with family and friends.
Sharon will be fondly remembered for her love and kindness by those who knew her. She is survived by her husband Larry R Ellerman of 62 years; daughters, Annette Nowaskie and her husband Dennis, Natalie Burkhart and her husband Tony, Melissa Thomas and her husband Mike all of Vincennes;
her grandchildren, Victoria (Daniel) Crabtree, Mitchell (Brittney) Nowaskie, Noah Miller, Spencer (Amber) Burkhart, Jacquelyn (Darren) Cantwell, Janelle (Jarek) Page, Chris (Allison)Thomas, Rev. Andrew Thomas, Megan Sturgeon; and twelve great grandchildren. Her brother Fred A. (Nancy) Reimers of Dundee, IL; sister, Rebecca J. (Phil) Worland of San Jose, CA. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Ardith Reimers and her twin sister Shirley Stein.
Friends may visit with Sharon’s family from 5-7 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6990 S. Decker Road, Vincennes, IN 47591. The funeral service to honor Sharon’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 9, 2024 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Pastor Nathan Rastl officiating.
