The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning a 2025 change to State Road 441 from U-S 41 to the Memorial Bridge in downtown Vincennes. The project wil feature new pavement during the entire roun of its route through the city.
The biggest part of the project will be changing Willow Street between Niblack Road and 13th Street from four lanes to three. It would become a two-lane road with left turn lanes.
The project is similar to what just happened on part of Hart Street. INDOT’s Gary Bryan says just like Hart Street, reduced accidents are the goal with this “road diet”. Bryan also points to a complete repave of that route as a benefit– especially to parts of Willow Street.
The 441 work will be bid out in February of next year, with work to happen during next year’s construction season.
