The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is reporting unemployment moving up to 4.4 percent statewide in January. That is four-tenths of a percent above the national rate of four percent. Even with that higher number, in January, the state’s workforce participation rate is still above the nation’s, at 63.8 percent, compared to 62.6 percent nationwide.
The largest statewide employment gainers were professional services and manufacturing. Both added between 29-hundred and 3,000 jobs in January.
