The Knox County Commissioners approved a 65-thousand dollar demolition of the Poor Farm building and nearby pole barn on County-owned land on Hart Street. Knox County Commissioner Trent Hinkle expects the demolition soon, The land is being repurposed for construction of a new County Emergency Operations Center. The Center is Phase One of a three-phase County space allocation plan. Hinkle says the framework is already in place to start the construction process,
Commissioner T-J Brink made a motion to delay the demolition to February 20th. That was to fulfill a six-month waiting period he told the Commissioners that was set on August 20th. His motion died for lack of a second. Instead, a motion to start the work as soon as possible passed two-one, over Brink’s vote against it.
Mullins Supply won the contract to do that demolition
