
Area rivers are cresting and falling from moderate to major flood levels.
The biggest flooding was on the White River. The White at Edwardsport has crested at 26 feet; it will start falling slowly over the weekend. A more rapid fall is expected there early next week. At Petersburg, the White will top out tomorrow at 28 feet—12 over flood stage. The White at Petersburg will stay at major flood levels through early next week.
The Wabash isn’t reporting quite as high flood levels, at least at Vincennes. The Wabash at Vincennes has hit its high of 21 and a half feet—five and a half over flood stage; it will start falling through the weekend. At Mount Carmel, the Wabash has hit 31 feet—12 over flood stage; it will start a slow fall over the weekend and through next week.
Those in low lying areas near these rivers are reminded to keep their flood plans in place for at least the near future.
