With the actual rain ended, all eyes are now on area rivers, to deal with flooding problems on them.
The White at Edwardsport, and Embarras at Lawrenceville, will be the first to crest and go back down. The White will top out today at 26 feet== 11 over flood stage. The Embarras at Lawrenceville will hit nine feet over, ta 39 feet.
The other river reporting sites will see crests later in the week. The White at Petersburg is forecast to hit 27 feet—11 over flood stage—on Friday, with the Wabash at Vincennes topping out at 22 feet– six over flood level—also on Friday. The final crest will be Saturday, as the Wabash at Mount Carmel is set to hit 31 feet—12 over flood stage—on Saturday.
Anyone in low-lying areas near rivers are reminded to use their flood plans. If you see water covering a roadway, you are encouraged to “turn around—don’t drown.”
