A University of Evansville student is leading a memorial to honor people buried in a forgotten cemetery uncovered during a 2023 city construction project. Olivia Horn partnered with the Evansville African American Museum, Cultural Resource Analysts, and the Vanderburgh County Historical Society to plan the ceremony. The event takes place June 28 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, where organizers will unveil a historical marker. Horn says the memorial aims to recognize the lives that helped shape Evansville.
