Flood levels are reaching above flood stage on area rivers, with flooding expected well above flood stage throughout the next week.
The Wabash River at Vincennes is forecast to top out at six feet over flood stage a week from today, at 22 feet. That is six feet over flood stage. At Mount Carmel, the Wabash will hit 12 feet over flood stage on Saturday, April 13th.
The White will be highest at Edwardsport, cresting there at 10 over flood stage, or 25 feet. Current, the river there is 16 feet; State Road 358 could be affected starting this weekend, as flood waters rise. At Petersburg, the White is will also top at 25 feet on Monday. Finally, the Embarras Rivet at Lawrenceville is currently at 31 feet; it will hit 37 feet on Sunday.
All those in low-lying areas are reminded to have their flood precautions ready. Also, drivers ure reminded not to drive across flooded roads, and the “turn around—don’t drown.”
