A recent step forward for the Bierhaus Flats complex is considered a good step forward for helping Vincennes with a housing shortage. At this point, a groundbreaking date has not been set, but the facility has received a tax abatement to help with development cost.
Knox County Indiana Economic Development director Chris Pfaff says this area’s relatively low unemployment rate is a blessing—but also a challenge. Pfaff does say the issue is somewhat better now—but still have a ways to go.
The idea behind the housing initiative is getting people who work in Vincennes to find housing in the city as well, and reduce commuting from other communities.
