Donald R. Hatcher Jr., aged 68, a long-time resident of Vincennes, IN, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Evansville, IN. He was born on September 11, 1956, to the late Donald Ray Hatcher Sr. and Linda Hatcher and was the beloved brother of Julie Dillon, who preceded him in death, along with grandsons David Reel and Anthony Cox.
A proud father and grandfather, Donald is survived and fondly remembered by his children: Brian Hatcher (Hannah), Tracey Reel (Sam), Sarah Hatcher, Andrea Hatcher, and Justin Hatcher (significant other Kendra), and the mother of his children, Dianna Hatcher. His legacy of love continues through his 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.
Donald was a man of hard work and dedication, evident through his years as a coal miner. Beyond his professional contributions, he committed himself as a Reserve Deputy to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, showcasing his devotion to community service.
A graduate of high school, Donald’s interests and hobbies painted the picture of a life lived with enthusiasm and passion. A member of New Heart Christian Church, he found solace and strength in his faith. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of nature through fishing, hunting, and metal detecting. His talents in wood working allowed him to create lasting treasures for his loved ones. At home, his dog Sarge was a constant and loyal companion.
Described lovingly by friends and family as friendly, loving, and kind, Donald’s warmth and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His gentle influence and the cherished memories shared will continue to live on in the hearts of his community and his loved family.
There will be a visitation on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel, with service following at 7:00 pm, officiated by Lindon Faull.
