The Knox County Public Library, like other libraries statewide, is awaiting the results of a private effort to keep the Imagination Library going in Indiana. The Library started as a joint venture between state governments nationwide, and Library founder Dolly Parton.
K-C-P-L director Emily Bunyan says locally, the program has helped a good number of infants and young children. In one of this first acts of the year, the Imagination Library was pulled from the state budget. Instead, it is being moved to a fund-raising effort headed by Indiana’s First Lady, Maureen Braun. Bunyan says while the funds are being raised, all she and others can do is wait and see.
Despite the move to private fund-raisding, at this time, Bunyan is optimistic the program can continue as it has in the past.
