Once again, a big congratulations goes out to the South Knox Girls Basketball
Team for capturing the State 2-A title with a convincing 55-33 win over Rensselaer
Central. Kendal Hill had a double-double of 18 points and ten rebounds while
Big sister Bren added 14 points and a dozen rebounds. Grace Detweiler added ten points
as the Lady Spartans finish up the season at 28-2 and the schools first ever state
championship.
While the book closes on the girls basketball season, the boys begin their second chapter this
Week as sectional play gets underway. All four Knox County teams wear the label as heavy underdogs.
Tomorrow night at the Southridge Class 3-A sectional, the 14-10 Lincoln Alices take on 15-7 Washington
In game one. The Hatchets beat the Alices 57-53 back in February in a close contest. Game two has
Gibson Southern squaring off against Jasper.
At the Eastern Greene 2-A sectional, the opener features West Vigo playing the host Thunderbirds while
Game two has 9-13 South Knox battling 14-8 Sullivan. The Golden Arrows own a 4-36 win over the Spartans back
on November 27th.
And at the Loogootee Class A Sectional, game one has North Daviess taking on Shoals while the second
game features 6-16 Vincennes Rivet taking on 16-6 Barr-Reeve. The Vikings won the regular seasons meeting
55-33 back on February 21st.
North Knox drew a first round bye and will take on the winner of the West Vigo-Eastern Greene Match up.
