Judith Ann (Campbell) Thais (85) passed away peacefully in her home at 1:54am on Saturday,
December 14, 2024. Judy was born on June 13, 1939 in Bruceville Indiana and was the oldest
daughter of James Roscoe (Rock) & Jean Campbell.
Judy graduated from Bruceville High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart,
Mitchell Thais, on 6/22/1957. They were married for forty-three years before his passing in
1999.
Judy and her husband had four children, Daniel Mitchell, David Marshall, Anne Marie & Kelly
Jean. Judy and her husband also became foster parents to a total of sixteen foster children over
the years, always welcoming children into their home that needed a loving, stable and nurturing
environment. Judy was a homemaker before her and her husband owned and operated Thais
Turkey Farm, the first turkey farm in Knox County for Perdue Farms in 1985.
Judy was a very active member of the Sacred Heart Church in Vincennes. She helped out with
the church picnics, funeral dinners, decorating the church for the holidays, helping at the fish fry
fundraisers and she prepared and served food at the Loaves & Fishes activities. Judy was also a
member of St. Anne’s Altar Society, the Women’s Rosary Group, the Women’s Welcome Retreat
and she was also a Eucharistic Minister. She loved her church and her church family very much.
Even through many losses and challenging times she faced over the years, she always stood
strong in her faith never wavering. Judy loved telling people about God and HIS unwavering
and endless love that HE has for them. Many who knew Judy described her as being one of the
strongest women that they had ever known and Judy always credited her faith in God as the
strength which allowed her to get through anything that she may have faced.
Judy loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Judy always loved sharing photos of her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy and her two sisters, Kathy and Kris, were
always very close but their bond became even stronger following Judy’s diagnosis. Her sisters
were an integral part of Judy’s life and the bond that the three of them shared was remarkable.
Kathy and Kris provided daily support and encouragement to Judy making sure that she had
everything she needed and Judy would look forward to their daily visits.
Judy was blessed to have wonderful neighbors, Jon and Shelly Wilson, who were more like
family to Judy always checking in on her and making sure she didn’t need anything or to see if
there was anything they could do to help her in anyway that they could. Judy had lots of nieces,
nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and her church family that she loved very much and that
she enjoyed spending time with. Judy would light up anytime she spoke about her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always so proud of each of them.
Judith’s legacy continues through her adoring family. She is survived by her children, and Anne Strug (Darren) of Muscatine, IA, Kelly

fresh herbs, reading, birdwatching and was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She
enjoyed spending time looking thru family recipes and cookbooks. Judy loved animals of all
kinds and loved the many pets she had over the years. Her dog, Pixie, and her cat, Milo, were
