Melva Jean (Whitten) Reeve, 92, went home to be with Jesus at 12:51 am on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Melva was born on October 5, 1931 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Milton and Eunice (Witsman) Whitten, She was a stay-at-home mom in her children’s early years. Melva began working as a telephone operator at Indiana Bell, and then moved into the business office. After retiring from Indiana Bell, Melva worked at the Health and Nutrition Center. Melva and her husband were members of the First Church of God.
Melva is survived by her children, Marty Reeve and his wife, Kathy, Christina Mueller and her husband, Manfred, Jenny Reeve, Valerie Kelly and her husband Jim; her grandchildren, Daniel Hess, Julie Weir and her husband, Chad, Matthew Reeve and his wife, Megan, Jonathan Reeve and his wife, Jessica, Bethany Reeve, Claire Skipper and her husband, Joshua, and Aaron Kelly; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with Melva’s family from 4-8 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN and from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastor Will Huebner will officiate, and Melva will be laid to rest next to her husband Wallace in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Reeve family requests memorial contributions be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or the National Kidney Association.
