Garry Taylor, a guiding light to his family and a cherished member of the Vincennes community, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on July 24, 1939, in Lakeview, Michigan, he grew up embedded with the values of hard work and dedication that would define his life.
Garry’s journey led him to Vincennes, Indiana, where he became a respected figure as the store manager of K-Mart, demonstrating leadership and mentorship to many. A devoted husband, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Ann “Fauson” Taylor, on June 20, 1959 in Lansing, MI, and built a life filled with joy and laughter. Embracing the roles of father and grandfather, he imparted wisdom and created countless cherished memories.
He found solace and strength in his faith as a member of the Community Church of Vincennes. Garry’s skillful hands were capable of crafting beautiful woodworking creations, marking moments of beauty and legacy.
Loving, funny, and thoughtful, Garry’s memory will be embraced by his five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Aurelia. His spirit is reunited with his beloved Kathleen, his daughter, Kari Vieck, his son, Robert Taylor, as well as his parents, Lloyd and Catherine “Drew” Taylor, and his siblings, Judy, Kenneth, and Max.
Garry’s devotion to life shown through with bounds of love and service, and his absence leaves a palpable void in the hearts of those who knew him. Yet, his legacy endures in the imprints left on their lives and the community he loved so dearly.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel.
