Doris Ellen “Bowman” Biggs, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on August 16, 2024, in Vincennes, IN. Born on July 16, 1939, in Lawrenceville, IL, Doris led a life marked by warmth, devotion, and a friendly demeanor that won her the hearts of many.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Teising and son Rodney Biggs, both of Vincennes, IN; her cherished grandchildren, alongside several adored great-grandchildren. Doris entered eternal rest joining her beloved husband, Robert Eugene Biggs; her parents, Charles J. Bowman Jr. and Alice Berdina “McRae” Bowman; her son Ronald Biggs, and her grandson Mitchell Montgomery, who preceded her in death.
A proud graduate of her local high school, Doris dedicated a significant part of her life to serving others as a Matron at Riley Elementary School in the food service department. Her kind-hearted spirit and cheerful personality made her a favorite among the children and staff alike.
On November 30, 1991, she married her husband, Robert, in Vincennes, IN, where they shared a blissful life filled with love and mutual respect. Doris was an active member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary, contributing generously to her community and church.
Life on the farm brought Doris immense joy, as it blended seamlessly with her love for the Indiana University sports teams. A devout Catholic, Doris’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Above all, she relished visits from her granddaughter Brittany Montgomery, great-grandchildren Piper Lewis and Kyndall Myers, her pride and joy.
Doris will forever be remembered as a loving soul whose kindness and friendliness left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion and community involvement will continue to inspire those she has left behind.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, August 23rd, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Vincent Cemetery officiating by Father Tony Ernst.
