Christian “Chris” Ellerman, a steadfast pillar of kindness and faith, peacefully passed away on July 22, 2024, at Freelandville Community Home in Freelandville, IN. Born on January 27, 1934, in Decker, IN, Chris’s journey was one marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his work, and his community.
Chris is lovingly remembered by his wife, Emily “Faith” Ellerman, son, Brad Ellerman (Tammy) of Bicknell, IN; his daughter-in-law, Gina Ellerman of Fritchton, IN; step-children, Linda LeGrand (Jim) and Aaron Messer (Vanessa); step daughters-in-law, Kelly Messer and Sue Roark; his grandchildren, Kylie Jackson (Josh), Tyler Ellerman (Haley), Jordan Ellerman, and Zach Ellerman, and by his six great-grandchildren. `
A proud graduate of his local high school, Chris cultivated a life that was as rich in simplicity as it was in impact. He cherished the earth as a farmer and later contributed his skills to Ford Electronics in Bedford, IN. His devotion was also evident through his years of dedicated service at the Bicknell First Baptist Church.
Chris will be remembered as a man who lived by his principles of friendliness, faith, and kindness. His warm smile and gentle demeanor were his trademarks, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
His sunset follows the passings of his parents, Ernest Ellerman and Margaret “Lindy” Ellerman, his son Mark Ellerman, his stepsons Norman Roark and James Messer, and his sisters Esther Otten and Frieda Johnson. As Chris reunites with his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to glow in the hearts of those he’s touched—a legacy rooted in love, faith, and genuine human connection. Christian “Chris” Ellerman will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel with a service following immediately at 2:00pm officiated by Pastor Seth Alexander.
