Robert (Bob) J. Maze passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Freelandville, Indiana.
Born on August 14, 1941, Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He is remembered as a creative, spirited and friendly individual whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Bob was born and raised in Acton, Indiana. He and his wife, Helen, met in Louisville, Kentucky, and were married on June 12, 1966. Together they raised a wonderful son, Courtney (Carol) who now resides in Westphalia. Bob had two grandsons, Andrew and Isaac.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Lillian Maze, his brother, Jack Maze, and grandson Jacob.
Bob attended Oberlin College where he spent his senior year studying in Austria. He furthered his studies at Louisville Southern Baptist Seminary with a Masters in Christian Education. In his professional life, Bob dedicated himself to service and care for others. He spent his career working with the Indiana Department of Aging, where his commitment to the elderly community was unwavering. Following this, Bob served as a nursing home administrator, a role in which he was able to further demonstrate his compassion and dedication to the well-being of seniors.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Bob had a profound love for music. He served churches in both Kentucky and Indiana for nearly 50 years as an organist and choir director. His musical talent brought joy and inspiration to countless choirs and congregations.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church Bicknell Van Fund or the Freelandville Community Home which took such good care of Bob during his last few months.
There will be a graveside service at Acton Cemetery, 7900 Acton Rd, Indianapolis, IN, 46259, on July 18, 2024 at 3:00pm with Pastor Seth Alexander officiating.
