Deborah Lynn Gouverneur, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 60 on June 20, 2024, in her hometown of Vincennes, IN, where she was also born on July 11, 1963. Deborah’s life was one of unwavering dedication to her family and a career marked by compassion in the service of others.
Deborah’s life journey began as the cherished daughter of Susan Marie “Parish” Stearns of Bryson City, NC, and the late Richard Irwin Stearns. She shared a profound bond with her spouse, Ernest Gouverneur, whom she wed on the lovely autumn day of September 2, 2017, in her native Vincennes. They built a life based on mutual respect, deep love, and continual support for each other.
A devoted mother, her legacy lives on through her children: Gabrielle Williams (Rashid) of Aubrey, Texas; Michael Lahti of Vincennes, IN; Daniel Gouverneur (Gabriella) of Las Vegas, NV; Anthony Gouverneur of Buckskin, IN; Robin Gouverneur (Trina) of Buckskin, IN; and Patrick Gouverneur (Cameron) of Plymouth, IN. Deborah was the nurturing core of her family, which included her dear siblings Kelly Thompson (Charles) of Amite, Louisiana; Cindy Stearns also of Louisiana; and Richard Stearns II (Pamela) of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren, who will miss her warmth and guidance.
Armed with an Associate’s Degree, Deborah served her community as an LPN. Throughout her career, she brought comfort and care to countless individuals at various nursing homes, demonstrating a genuine commitment to healthcare. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and tender, skillful touch.
Deborah relished the simple joys of life, such as going thrift shopping and cherishing time with her family. Her love for her relatives knew no bounds, and her presence was a source of joy and comfort.
Let us honor the memory of Deborah Lynn Gouverneur, a guiding light in the lives she touched, as we celebrate the richness of her life and the countless memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
