Loita Jeanne Kelly, 91, passed away at 10:40 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the New Willow Manor Nursing Home. Jeanne was born on June 18, 1928 in Muncie, In the daughter of Joseph K. and Mary Alice (Pittinger) Conger. She married Carlyle D. Zimmer on August 25, 1945 and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1996. She then married Leo A. Kelly on May 9, 1998 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2015.
Jeanne was a member of First Church of God and the advertising and display manager for JC Penney for thirty years. She was a member of American Legion, 40 et 8, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Harmony Society. She belonged to the “Gold Wing Road Riders Association” with her first husband Carl and traveled the U.S. doing numerous charitable events. She also did craft shows with her first husband all over the tri-state area. Jeanne also loved her family and her grandchildren, enjoyed playing euchre and was a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader in her younger years.
Survivors include her daughter, Nita Pero and her husband Bill of Vincennes; son-in-law, Tom Mayo of Vincennes; sister, Mary Sue Holly and her husband Robert of Lumberton, MS; brothers Robert Conger of Indianapolis, Joseph K. Conger and his wife Loretta of Dayton, TX; two grandchildren, Karmin and Tyler Mayo; two great grandchildren, Natalia Mayo and Dominick Tuminello. Jeanne was preceded by husbands Carlyle D. Zimmer and Leo A. Kelly, daughter, Karla Mayo, sister, Norma June Griffin and brother, Charles Conger.
There will be a private service held at a later date and Jeanne will be laid to rest by her first husband at Memorial Park Cemetery.
