K. Bruce Tooley, 72, of Vincennes, passed away Sunday December 30,
2018 at the Good Samaritan hospital with his family at his bedside.
Bruce was born November 20, 1946 in Vincennes the son of William C.
and Nellie A. Lankford Tooley. Bruce was a graduate of North Knox High School and he began a career with Porter Paint Company that spanned 45 years and became a part of downtown. Bruce was the person that if you wanted it painted, he would figure the right paint or stain and process to stain or paint it. He married Joy D. Kixmiller on January 17, 1970 and they made their life together for over 48 years. Bruce was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ and was a devoted husband, father and uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed going to various coffee gatherings around Vincennes and sharing time with his coffee buddies.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Joy D. Tooley, their daughter, Amy Tooley of Terre Haute, IN and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a Sister in Law, Bonnie Tooley and a Brother and Sister in Law, Tom and Joyce Kixmiller.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nellie Tooley and a brother Gary Tooley.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday January 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ with Pastor Steve Boorsma officiating. Bruce will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday January 2, 2019 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Good Samaritan Hospice Program. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist Bruce’s family during their time of loss.
